Kate Middleton always sports a new hairstyle when she returns to work after her maternity leave, and there’s a reason why this is the case.
James Johnson, a celebrity hairdresser, told Daily Mail that changing hairstyles could be the Duchess of Cambridge’s way of reasserting herself.
“Often when having a child, so many women want to feel refreshed and empowered again. Having spent nine months carrying and feeling out the ordinary, women are often desperate to feel new again. A great way to do this is with a fresh hairstyle, including a color you’ve been waiting all pregnancy for,” he said.
The hairdresser also said that the mom of three is a perfect example of someone who returned to her official duties looking greater than ever.
“From experience, I feel new moms have more confidence than ever with trying new looks out after birth in a way of re-inventing themselves. With a fresh haircut and color each time she comes back from maternity leave, Kate takes the standard of mom goals to a new level,” Johnson said.
Years ago, Middleton donned her signature bouncy locks before giving birth to Prince George. When she returned to work years later, her hair color was noticeably lighter. She also had much tighter curls.
“Often with warm undertones, lifting her hair lighter will expose more golden pigments within her hair. This can be done naturally or through sunlight abroad,” Johnson explained.
Before giving birth to Princess Charlotte in 2015, Middleton had voluminous curls. When she returned to her royal duties after her daughter’s birth, the Duchess of Cambridge’s hair featured a parted fringe.
“With a topped up warm gloss on the hair too, her post-baby hair shine was unreal,” the hairdresser said.
And months after giving birth to Prince Louis, Middleton had a much shorter hair compared to her first two post-pregnancy official returns.
“She’s kept her hair traditional with the bouncy, structured ‘Kate Middleton’ style, continuing her trademark, enviable look,” he said.
Middleton will be seen in public with husband Prince William on Oct. 9 at the Global Health Summit at the County Hall in London.
